Meet Your Artist

Meet Meg Bryan - Owner & Master Artist

I began my makeup journey when I was 15 and realized how therapeutic it was for me to create beautiful art.  All of my babysitting money went towards buying more makeup and making YouTube tutorials. Once I started bringing my makeup to school and applying it on friends during lunch, I knew I’d be pursuing makeup as a profession.

I joined a makeup team when I was 17 years old and my clientele grew quickly. Before long, I was booking at least one wedding a week. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed seeing my brides face light up whenever I handed her the mirror.

I have now contributed to over 400 weddings, countless full face applications, and have been honored to be a part of many special events.

My true calling for makeup is to help you feel the best version of yourself.  Whether this means extremely minimal but enhanced makeup or full glam. I am available to hear any concerns and achieve your desires when it comes to your makeup.

My passion drives from the desire to help women feel stunning. As much as makeup is an art, to me I do not consider myself artistic. I consider myself understanding how women want to feel in makeup. We all want to feel good, feel like ourselves, confident, and beautiful when we get our makeup done, therefore, that’s my passion.

In addition to teaching many classes and workshops of my own, I have had the pleasure of learning hands-on with both local and celebrity makeup artists.

When I’m not enjoying being part of an amazing event as your makeup artist, you can find me at Disney …. Or, maybe just dreaming about Disney.

Meet Molly Bottas - Expert Artist

Molly has always had a passion for all forms of art beginning in her early years. From painting to stained glass she loved it all! Through her passion for creating art, she discovered the beauty industry within Youtube and immediately gravitated towards makeup. After constantly practicing on herself and her sisters for years, she made the jump into the wedding industry through friends and family from 2017-2018.

Fast forward to early 2021, Molly was working as a montessori teacher in Charlottesville Virginia. She loved everything about her job but still found her love of makeup always in the back of her mind. She decided she wanted to pursue her passion and began looking for local makeup artists who would be willing to mentor her. She came across Meg’s page and was captivated by her stunning looks and skill! Molly began assisting Meg as her right hand artist throughout 2021, learning and practicing all along the way.

In mid 2021, Molly officially joined the Captivating Complexion team as the first Senior Artist. From there, Molly completed 1:1 intensive trainings with Meg, masterclasses with award winning makeup educators, and endless private practice sections. So far, Molly has contributed to over 90 weddings on the Captivating Complexion team.

Her passion for makeup not only derives from her artistic background, but also from the joy her clients feel! Nothing fuels her passion more than seeing her clients feel beautiful and confident after the final reveal, truly her favorite part of being a makeup artist.

Meet Tai Strong - Advanced Artist

Tai was raised as an artist and loved enveloping herself in painting and crafts at a very young age. Her mother and older sister pursued the arts during their youth and encouraged Tai to do the same. Her interest for beauty developed as a teen after discovering how much art and beauty overlapped. Tai found that the styling of hair was similar to sculpting, nail art was another form of painting and makeup reminded her of the shading and definition that was done when working with 2D mediums. This newfound interest encouraged Tai to enroll in cosmetology school after high school.

Her time in cosmetology school allowed her to narrow down her interests. Throughout all of the topics she learned, makeup was the one that peaked her interest the most. Tai graduated cosmetology school in 2017 and began working as a part-time makeup artist in the Richmond area for weddings and local photographers while working as a beauty consultant during the week. During her time as a beauty consultant, Tai was able to gain knowledge on a variety of techniques and products that allowed her to work on a broad variety of clients.

After 3 years of only doing makeup on the weekends, Tai decided to take the leap of faith and become a full-time makeup artist. During this time, she worked alongside the Captivating Complexion team as a second artist for a few occasions throughout the 2021-2022 bridal season. She enjoyed the team's passion, work ethic and artistry so much that in 2022 she accepted the offer from Meg to become a lead key artist on the team.

Tai is very passionate about offering inclusive beauty services so that everyone has the opportunity to enhance their natural beauty with makeup - regardless of complexion, skin type, gender, or age!

Meet Taylor Irwin - Senior Artist

Taylor began her makeup career in college for friends and family which quickly turned into booking proms, special occasions and weddings. She found her passion for makeup through various YouTube makeup gurus and was immediately drawn to the industry. While she loved doing makeup, she was getting a degree for marketing and thought it only fair to give marketing a shot. She moved from MD to GA and became a full time account manager at a full service marketing agency. While she was busy working her job, makeup was put on a shelf. Taylor would dream about what it would be like to leave her job and do makeup all the time but was always too afraid to take the leap.

Fast forwarding to 2021, Taylor felt called by God to move to Forest, Virginia where her and husband learned they were expecting their first baby boy, Hendrix. She prayed about the direction of her career and what that would look like as a new mom to her first baby. Taylor immediately knew that makeup was the only thing she would consider. She wanted to do something she was passionate about and something that made her feel fulfilled while being away from her baby. That's when she stumbled upon Captivating Complexion and found Meg. In Taylors words, she was absolutely obsessed with Meg and the Captivating Complexion team. “I loved her style, her work, her energy, everything about what she was doing! I reached out to her a few weeks after having my baby boy and we met up to chat. We clicked right away and totally vibed! Meg is a one of a kind type of person and I felt honored that she considered me to be a part of her team. Once Meg told me she wanted to make me the final piece to the Captivating Complexion team, I knew this was where I was meant to be. “

Though Taylor’s makeup style has changed over the years, the passion and spark that Taylor feels for it never wavered. She loves makeup itself and creating art but her absolute favorite part of being a Makeup Artist is making people feel beautiful in their own skin. Enhancing beauty that is already within someone and seeing their face light up when their eyes hit the mirror is what brings Taylor’s soul joy.

When she is not doing makeup, you can catch her on a hot girl walk with her sweet baby boy or reading a good book with her kitties. And if you still can't catch her... Taylor is traveling with the her most supporting and loving husband around the world.
